So now we see your website, how did you put it together, and what are you using?

Base Stuff

This server is a dual-Athlon machine that lives at ServerBeach and runs the following software:

• Debian 4.0 (Etch)
• Apache 2.2
• PHP 5.2
• XCache 1.2

I am completely satisfied with Debian on the server, and think it makes a great platform. I've tried all the other Linux distros out there and think Debian just seems to do everything that I want, and has everything I need available.

XCache is one I have never heard of, so I am trying it on you right now :-) I'll let you know how well that goes in a separate blog entry in about a month or so. I've already used the usual suspects, from the original phpAccelerator through MMCache/eAccelerator and Zend's Optimizer. I've also used APC on one occasion, but didn't get enough work with it to develop an opinion one way or the other.

Joomla Stuff

At present this is a stock Joomla 1.0.12, with some additional extensions:

• Template: colormatic, by RocketTheme
  This template was a savior for me, as I just don't have the time to futz about with pixels anymore, what with worrying about all those 0s and 1s and so on
• Modules: mod_roklogin, by RocketTheme
  This is a hot-rodded version of the stock Login module, with cleaner, more semantic markup
• Modules: mod_rokmatic_latest, by RocketTheme
  This module is an enhanced version of the Latest News module found in Joomla
• Plugins: bot_rokslimbox, by RocketTheme
  This is a cute little plugin that produces thumbs and other neat tricks with images
• Component: OpenSEF, by Joom Prosolution

For now that seems pretty basic, but I'm sure as the site progresses there will be more to add to the list.
