Highest Traffic Joomla Site Launches
Wednesday, 21 May 2008

Thanks to the hard work of a dedicated team - and a little over a year - a high traffic website from the Nick Kids & Family group has migrated from an internal, proprietary plaform to Joomla.

We'd love to introduce to you the new Quizilla website for MTV Networks. Mitch was the technical lead on the project, and brought in several Joomla core team members as consultants to help move things along, while managing the internal development team at MTVN.

Quizilla frequently serves 40 million page views weekly.

Why Joomla?

"The Joomla CMS was too heavy, too multipurpose, to suit our needs," Mitch explained. "In the end we really needed an AC Cobra, something incredibly fast, lightweight and flexible to work with. This website had static navigation, and was targeted directly at the US teen audience - so menus, dynamic navigation, and multilanguage support were all totally not required. By foregoing the full CMS package and only taking the framework that we needed, we bypassed a significant number of shortcomings and performance bottlenecks."

More to Come

We're planning on writing a slew of articles that document what we learned along the way, as well as provide insight into developing a high-traffic website using the new framework.
