We build web applications that let you get work done. Quite simply, we keep it simple. Our world is cluttered and complicated enough, the last thing we need is more complex applications in our lives. We learned early on that steadfast dedication to simplicity provided applications that were clean, fast, and easy to use.
What we Believe
There are only a few things that bear mention when asked about how we like to roll:
- We believe that simplicity trumps everything else: you cannot apply the simple filter to your project when you are done.
- Agile teams: We're big fans of Agile methodologies and deliberately choose to remain a small, nimble business.
- Communication is king: Our clients never ask our status as we keep them close while we are engaged on a project for them.
- No surprises: Our project website allows us to involve our clients in every phase of their projects, and not limit them to a daily status email.
- Strength in numbers: We partner with similar small, agile and talented teams for the right mix of talent for our clients' needs.
Most importantly, understand that we have longstanding relationships with our clients, and prefer to do business that way.
Meet the Founder
Mitch Pirtle
Mitch founded Spacemonkey Labs back in 2000 to focus on custom development of web applications for his consulting clients. He has always been an entrepreneur, as he was an early player at ClassMates.Com; and has been founding businesses since 1995. His most prolific success has come with Open Source as a core member of the award winning Mambo content management system, which went on to become the industry renowned Joomla! content management system - having nearly a million downloads monthly and growing. He is also involved in the MongoDB database project, helping with the PHP extension and documentation. He has also worked on some very high-traffic websites that peak at nearly 60 million page views weekly, and has learned a great deal from that experience.
He is a supreme tinkerer (hence the nickname that became the namesake for the company). He constantly explores emerging technologies to find innovative approaches before they become mainstream. He also spends a lot of time working with social media technologies and was previously a VP at a major social media company, and is an active member of user groups and communities centered around internet marketing, wine, music, development, and skateboarding.
